Who Am I?
When you guys play a mtt do you sit down and think out how you're going to play? Just play good cards or adjust to the table?Tonight I been thinking , what is my best style to play, I mean I dont really know my own style that I am playing at the moment. I used to be quite tight and agressive (textbook basically) but then after a while started to play looser when my confidence was high after winning some mtts and doing well in cash games.
But now, I think i play a bit like a lunatic really. I never thought about it , but I frequently re raise players liberally and do really unorthodox moves that sometimes work but other times don't aswell. I ll give an example , from today infact : I have 8-3- in the blinds cant recall if it was sb or bb, and the button who is quite deep with like 35k i think riases ,I am sittin with about 28k and blinds are like $800. He made it like 2.4 , i made it 10k ( the blinds may have been one level higher actually) he just called. This annoyed me a little to be honest, any hand hes calling this much he should just push pre flop. In any event flop came KQ2, and I thought well i cant leave my chips out there but dont want to push encase he has a big hand so i bet $8k he pushes i fold and he shows AK. So i lost like 18k of my 28k stack on taht hand with 8-3 really unneccesary. I guessed he could have had mid pair like 9s or 10s when he called pre flop.
Thats not to say I am always crazy , despite the above, I really dont gamble all my chips all pre flop so easily lol. Seriously I fold pairs and AQ etc quite alot considering I have a loose image alot of the time. Really not a fan of all in pre flop. Cos I dont like the thought of flipping a coin for my tournament.
Anyway, my main issue is that I don't really know how I play or my strategy so how can I expect to win lol?I may make a concious effort to play tight/agressive or Loose etc in the fortcoming tournaments and compare results, even if it is a small sample.I will at least know what I enjoy most.
I guess the best strategy is to play smart, fold when you know you're beat and bet when you think you have the best of it.....Bit of a broad statement though.
